Where did the vultures go?
Where did the vultures go?
where the vultures were
Friends, while creating the world, the creator has assigned
responsibilities to everyone under a custom. Everyone has an
important role in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem.
Be it a human being or a plant or an animal, it is true that
human being is the best creation of nature.
But the ecosystem cannot function well merely with human
presence
For this the presence of every creature is necessary
So today we will talk about a bird that we have forgotten in this fast paced life and it has forgotten us
The name of this bird is Vulture
Where have the vultures gone from India? Why are the
vultures not visible?
There was a time when flocks of vultures were seen in India
Before we talk about this, let us know some interesting facts about vultures.
Vultures fly as high as Everest in search of their food so that
they can observe a large area and no border can stop them
during this flight
At a height of thousands of feet, other birds die due to lack of
oxygen but the vulture survives there too.
The magical urine of vultures
Turkey vultures urinate on their feet. Although this may not be
a good thing about vultures, scientists believe that vultures
urinate to protect their feet from infection due to standing on
rotting meat and urine has antiseptic properties.
Vultures have a powerful digestive system
Vultures have a strong digestive system and powerful
digestive process. Vultures are the only birds in the world that
include 70 to 80 percent of their food in bones to obtain
nutritional elements. The acid in the stomach of vultures is so
strong that it destroys even the bacteria of cholera and
anthrax.
Nature's cleaners, vultures, keep the environment clean by eating an adult dead animal in minutes
But due to our carelessness, vultures are on the verge of
extinction today.
Let's know why vultures are not visible
Why are the vultures not visible? Where have they gone?
Before the 1990s, the number of vultures in India was around
four crore [40,000,000] but now the number of vultures has
decreased by 95%
Such trends have been observed not only in India but also in
Nepal, Burma, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Europe and Africa.
Research by scientists shows that some medicines being
used for pet animals are ruining the lives of vultures. You
must be wondering which medicine is that and how it is
ruining the lives of vultures.
Let us know the whole truth. Mainly these two medicines are
ruining the lives of vultures - Oxytocin and Diclofenac.
Oxytocin is used to extract milk from animals. Diclofenac is
used to treat pain and swelling in animals.
When an animal cannot be saved during treatment and dies,
it is thrown out and vultures eat it and these substances reach
the body of vultures and both these medicines react differently
in vultures.
Oxytocin affects the reproductive system of vultures and
makes them infertile. Vultures mate but do not lay eggs. This
results in wasting generations of vultures.
Diclofenac is a very famous drug. It is an anti-inflammatory
drug. It is also called NSAID. Due to this, kidneys of vultures
fail because it affects the urinary system of vultures.
After the kidneys of vultures fail, they die within 12 to 24 hours.
When such research came to light and the number of vultures
started decreasing from crores to thousands, then the
government woke up, then many organizations came forward
and started the work of conservation. By then it was too late,
oxytocin and diclofenac had done their work.
The Indian government banned the use of diclofenac in
animals but illegal use continues
Why Vultures Are Important
Vultures, who are expert in doing hours of work in minutes,
clean the environment by eating rotten meat and thus prevent
the spread of diseases and save us from epidemics.
Whereas, today as an alternative, dogs etc. eat rotten meat
but they also bring many diseases with them.
That is why no one other than vultures is fully capable of
doing this work because God has given such ability to
vultures that despite eating street meat and living in it, they
do not bring any disease with them.
Because their body destroys the bacteria that spread infection
That is why vultures are being conserved. There were 9
species of vultures found in India, but three species are being
conserved in the Pinjor Vultures Preservation Centre and their
numbers are also increasing, but not as much as they used to
be. That is why you should also cooperate to save this precious
bird.
